I wouldn't let it worry you. With that much material as backstock, it sounds like there was some over-ordering that needs being pared back. Add to that the lack of distinction being made between old and new, d20/OGL/non-OGL/non-d20 and it seems more like, perhaps, a slight over-reaction to the realization of that past over-ordering. The top store locally, Games Plus (whose co-owner and ordering guru posts on EN World as thalmin), has always played things much closer to the vest with their ordering but I've seen other stores that get too caught up in trends and wind up getting caught with too much material, and thus having to reduce much stock at low prices. It's a tricky business that takes a great deal of constant research of which products are the top quality of what's available, a perpetual finger on the pulse of of community trends, and a savvy sense of ordering acumen. Not many people have the time and experience to keep the level high in all three categories required.
