Best source for ships and seafaring adventures? (Now with Picturez!)

Anyone knows?

I'm not particularly interested in pirates and galleons and cannons, but rather in more ancient or fantastic seafaring adventures, akin to Pirates of Dark Water or Sinbad (I already downloaded the Corsairs book from Al-Qadim from the WotC site).

Well, the Adamant Entertainment pdf release Corsair is pretty cool, though it does lean a little toward the golden age of piracy (cannons, etc). I would also recommend Golden Voyages (Al-Qadim); it's out of print, but I'm sure you can find it somewhere.

I am rather partial to The Seafarer's Handbook from Fantasy Flight Games. Although it is 3.0, it is still a very good reference on seafaring campaigns.

It covers, among other things, aquatic combat for land-based creatures; aquatic PC races; aquatic equipment; and ships.

The section on ships contains a stat-block format for ships, rules for designing custom ships, several pre-designed historical and fantastic ships (one ship is based on the design of the Monitor, an Ironclad from the US Civil War, for example), and rules for handling sea voyages (especially the hazards of such voyages, like fire on the ship). Ship-to-ship combat, boarding actions, and such are more lightly discussed, but present. Feats suitable for a seafaring campaign (such as Swing-by Attack, for those rope-swinging types) are also present. The Prestige Classes are generally limited to one per new PC race presented, and are all aquatic. A few aquatic-based spells are included, as well as some notes on modifying land-based spells.

Yes, it focuses on 17th-18th century as the baseline, but there is also material on using the rules for earlier periods, later periods, and fantasy settings.

Good stuff, including the alternate ships that are towed or pushed by elementals and critters.

Decent maps, good combat explanation, understandable movement rules. AOverall a great package, discounted or full price.

Speaking of the Seafarer's Handbook, one of my favorite ships was the Blade Sail from it.

There were a few books in that vein for a while.

I've got the Seafarer's Handbook, but I prefer Broadsides, from Living Imagination. The Ship information is much better, and the sailing rules seem more accurate. I might have to look into Corsair, though...

Spelljammer isn't a bad looksee.

Pirate stuff is all over...but Wooden Ships & Iron Men is probably the best out there.
