Best "Virtual Tabletop" for Mac?

blizack

First Post
I am currently trying to find the best "virtual tabletop" program. We're going to be using one to run a D&D campaign online, and everyone involved will be using a Mac.

I've seen Fantasy Grounds and it looked very impressive, but unfortunately it's for Windows only. Any suggestions for an alternative?

If you're willing to pay, try kLoOge.Werks. If nothing else, download the demo and see if it's what you're looking for. It's written in Java, So it works on the Mac, PC, and Linux platforms.

And, no. OpenRPG is done in Pytho, not Java. I do believe there is a Mac version of it though. I found instruction on what you would need to do here in order for you to use it with a Mac.

Hope this helps.

Online Campaigns

I like the looks of Kloodge over OpenRPG. OpenRPG seems a little on the too-simple side. Kloodge seems a more advanced program that is going to have more tools for online gaming: The diceroller seemed more advanced, the battlemap can be zoomed in/out, movement on the battlemat showed how far you moved/how far away an enemy was, you can easily use any map and set scale, you can set a target to attack so people can easily see who you're attacking, DM can apply damage fairly easily. The program is not quite as easy to use as I would like, you will have to read the manual that comes with it.

That was my opinion from testing the programs out. I haven't actually got an online campaign running. Both programs have free demos so I'd definitely check them out first.

David Machala: Hmm, nice program you've got there! Funny that this is the first time I've heard of it though, while I've heard of Fantasy Grounds at least 50 seperate occasions over the last 3 months. You should market more! I'm sure your product will give Fantasy Grounds a run for its money

We've had a number of people comment on our stealth marketing technique. Believe it or not, we've been developing and selling Werks for about five years now. Where as this is your first time hearing about us, I'm sure that it won't be the last. We're ready to take our product to the next level this year. I'm positive you'll see us around.
