Best way to kill a dragon?

hehe, If only I had those items, then perhaps I would. and maybe if I decide to flee i'll try that. What happens if the dragon is reduced to 0 dex?

Nvvyn, if you want us to give you some useful advice, I would have to agree with the earlier person who said that we would need to know more about how your DM runs dragons. An overview of the earlier fight with the blue and red would be *very* helpful.

Why? Well, it is abundantly clear to most of the people on this board (although maybe not to you) that your DM either sucks at playing bad guys, or is cutting you an enormous amount of slack. That makes this an entirely different game from what most of us are familiar with. So your question is not really "What are some tactics that a standard Rog3/Wiz5/Atr7 can use in a one-on-one fight against a standard Ancient Red Dragon?" (for example: Dispel his Protection from Elements), but rather "What are some tactics this partucular DM won't be able to handle?" (e.g., forget about Dispelling, because the dragon likely won't have Protection from Elements up anyway!)

Personally, I think you actually have a very decent chance of defeating this dragon. Because I think your DM will let you! Regardless of the fact that a single 15th level PC attacking an Ancient Red is equivalent to a EL +11 encounter  (CR 22, +4 because you're on your own).

I'd still suggest taking dispels. A simple displacement, mirror image or even invisibility can ruin your tactics, because they require a succesful ranged touch attack.

Just get some Devastation Centipede poison on a arrow.
Fort save (DC 93) Initial and secondary damage 2d12 temporary dex.
It might be expensive as hell and god forbid you cut yourself but it would be impressive to watch a dragon go help less in 1 hit. If you could even get access to such poison.

We just converted our 2e epic characters and were playtesting a fight. Those Devistions critters are a pain in the arse.

I bet so, man thats incredibly powerful, no chance of save basically. and tons of dex loss. That would destroy ANY dragon, hehe. All i'd have to do is true strike with a dagger that has that poison on it. Although I still might not hit, +2dagger, +7bab, +20 true strike, so +29 to my hit roll.

i think your best bet is doing the cheap-ass telekenisis thing with the dex-poison arrows, takeing it to 0 would render it immobile, then pummle it with spells, and bring a few ballistas along also... and always have a few Summon Monster spells ready for the flanking and the zaping with the sneak attack...

I agree with the munchkin type ideas...

Telekinesis Arrows Mass bombardment, poison em good n' plenty, and that should be plenty enough to make the job easier.

Yes I'd allow it in my game.
No my players wouldn't have thought of it.
What does that mean?
I probably would use it on my players :).

Sweet i'm diggin those idea's. My DM would be shocked at my ingenuity, tehehehe. I'd have to use bolts though, no one in my party uses a bow, we got two peeps that use a crossbow.
