Heh, kinda interesting to get that on May 25th - little late in the cycle.

But, good to hear. The lack of response was pretty much what made me stop bothering to submit anything at all.

I'm guessing they have things figured out for the next several months. Hence this coming at the end of a submissions cycle.

Over the next few months, people will get a better idea of this new direction and how issue themes are handled and be able to pitch in October based on that.

I welcome the proposed changes. Even though I haven't submitted many article ideas (I should start doing more), I have never received a response. This would help me greatly.

Having the magazine themes ahead of time would be a great help as well. I believe Pyramid Magazine does this (or used to do this).

Cool, submission windows is pretty common for online journals, and I hope they do indeed get to devote more substantial time to reviewing articles.

I owe my entire career to the magazines. I remember the attention I got from Roger Moore and Barbara Young—a series of rejection letters that kicked off a wildly successful freelance writing career.

That made me smile!

I'm very happy about this, and I appreciate that they've created something of a schedule for us to work with. Deadlines create a nice bit of pressure that helps me do my work. Alas, it does mean that I won't be able to help Aegeri with his epic monsters problem for awhile!

This is really cool. Guaranteed feedback makes the prospect of pounding out submissions a lot more attractive. And with actual submission windows, I'm imagining some fun community writing "competitions" a la NaNoWriMo.
