"For the first time ever in an official title"? Didn't they just publish a Worlds & Realms book less than eighteen months ago that was pretty much the same thing? Or are they being pedantic about the "official" part of that?

Since the publisher is DK, the target audience is my ten year old son.

Well they blew it. I love DK books. I buy a lot of them… for me.

Wish I had them when I was a kid.

Too bad they got a lot more expensive in recent years.

Given that it jumps from Moonstone Dragon to Myconid without an entry for Mul, it looks unlikely. Not certain--there could be layout decisions that mean it isn't maintaining perfect alphabetical order, or they could decide to cover Dark Sun without including muls for various reasons--but it's a negative indicator.
