Big FFG Sale -- I went on a spree!

Thanks for the heads-up on this.

I picked up three that I didn't have:

Darkness & Dread
Monster's Handbook
Cityworks

All of which should come in handy for some future projects I have planned.

Mwah-ha-ha, etc.

Some things are just too hard to resist, like bargains such as this.

Now to the White Wolf site to check into the discounted Scarred Lands stuff...

I say, "If their sales to distributors have dropped off..." because sales like this will almost surely kill any further orders by retailers/distributors. Nobody likes to be undersold. FFG must have decided that it's obviously ok to do that at this point.

If? These books are ancient. I can almost gurantee there hasn't been a sale on one of these through distribution in some time. You don't get any shelf life out of d20 products anymore. You get an initial sale in the first month (which is the bulk of all your sales), and if your lucky, you might get one month of restocks. At least that's how it has been for us and a few other publishers I've spoken with.

The only ones I didn't buy were the 4 "Path" class books. Does anyone have much experience with them? Bear in mind I don't really need more crunchy books but again, they are 5 bucks.

I know only "Path of Magic", and I found this one quite interesting. Actually, it has a lot material for bards and socially or intrigue-focussed character concepts unlike most of the other books for magic users. It's 3.0, of course.

For you, maybe.

For me, maybe.

For Fantasy Flight Games? I think they warrant an "IF."

I have to believe, based on their diverse and regular publications, their sales are at least as good as Mongoose-- but then, I wouldn't necessarily take Mongoose's sales numbers claims at face value...

Darn, and I'm effectively broke right now. (Kinda overspent at GenCon SoCal).

If you'd like to donate to the "Help Mythusmage Get More Swag" fund you can reach me via one of my email links in the sig below. I could use more books to write about over at Mythus Mutters.

Cash donations via the Amazon Honor system logo on my TOC wouldn't hurt either. :heh:

But you don't have to. Sales for RPGs are currently supporting the staff I mentioned in my post in the other forum room, plus an expansion into miniatures (and multiple plastic lines at that). Couldn't do that without a strong and stable back catalogue.

Not that I believe you are calling me a liar :)

As for FFG, the last I looked they had a slightly higher turnover than Mongoose. Then again, I believe a lot of that comes from board games and card games. But that is just speculation.

When this thread started, I wondered how long it would take for people to start wondering along these lines. Seems inevitable these days, despite companies coming on here to let people know they are stable and not going away. Almost as if people want to see something big blow up in a spectacular manner :)

It _is_ just possible that FFG _do_ want extra space in their warehouse. It is a sentiment I can well understand (we have nearly three hundred product lines now, and warehouse space ain't the cheapest thing in the world).

For my part, I'll be taking a trip to their site and seeing what their overseas shipping is like - we are missing a couple of their books in our office library :)

I picked up:

Path of the Sword
Path of Magic
Monster's Handbook
Path of Shadow
Path of Faith
Portals and Planes
Twisted Lore
Giant Lore
Elemental Lore
and then I picked up Spellslinger for good measure!

The only other L&L book I wanted to get was Necromantic Lore, but they didn't offer it on the site. :(

What is up with this website? I keep getting my shopping basket emptied! ARGH!

Good luck, FFG. This is nuts. I can buy one book at a time (offering $27 shipping). If I try to add more than one book to the basket it clears it out. Thanks.

Cookie settings. As usual, my fault. Apologies.
