Well, any issues I had just evaporated then...I can just grab the SRD for updates and thus not feel forced into upgrading to 3.1.

Yeah, all the essentials should be there, but there will also be some useful stuff that isn't -- like, say, if they were to make a better variant for XP story awards. It's good news to hear about the SRD though. I imagine there should be enough in there to keep running from the old books if need be.

I think it extremely likely that a free conversion pdf document will be produced - either by WotC themselves or some other kind individual, so that you don't have to wade through the SRD to find the material you need.
I think you're right. And even if that doesn't happen, I'd say it's virtually assured that some fan will create one from the SRD (as well as about, oh, 2-3 dozen different threads about what changes were made on these boards :D )

This is nice and all but the SRD, as I understand it, is for publishers to reference and although neat having it online, it's a pain to wade through.

Since they're operating like a software company these days, what they should do is offere a discount to those people who bought the shoddy, broken, erratta'd first one :D

Don't get me wrong, I like the fact that it's being updated. But at the end of the day I also think that 3.5 is essentially what should've been brought out in the first place.

Fourecks, because the (important) changes will be in the SRD, there will be no bar for someone else providing a FREE conversion document, if WotC don't do so themselves.

That's why this news is so important.

Cheers!
