I went looking for a former player of mine on the web- I had fallen out of touch, and hadn't seen her for over a year.. and I was just getting together a steady campaign again. So I did a web search and finally dug her email address up in a yahoo news group. Feeling a bit saucy, I decided to keep searching on her name, to see what would turn up.
We always talked about being players from "way back" and we were. Only now she can prove it: during the Google search I turned her name up in a someone's pirated pdf copy of Dragon #22 (1979) as a 'registered DM'. People back then actually sent their name and address into the magazine and were listed by state. And there she was- Lise Mendel, 1979, Maryland! DM for hire. She even still lives in the same house!
Well, I was impressed. I never appeared in Dragon.
