10 years ago(a long time when you're in high school), the students of Justice High defeated the evil megacorporation Meizatsu Inc. in a great(but covert) battle in Tokyo. The head of Meizatsu Inc., a man known simply as Darkness, was said to have taken down many of the students himself, hitting some so hard they were knocked back a grade. During the battle, a vicious Spirit known as The Black Dragoon was discovered to be the source of Darkness' power and, when it was lost thanks to the actions of a brave Justice High Ninja, Darkness disappeared, and Meizatsu closed it's doors soon after.
HG(hologram) Fighters is the newest craze sweeping the city. Played with a "Duel Disc" that is strapped to the player's arm and uplinked to the mainframe computer of the Draken Company, it uses small, compact hologram projectors that launch from the Duel Disc to create a fighting arena anywhere the players choose. They use computer programs known as Spirits or Fighters to fight it out; the winners have their standings increased. Lately, the games have been getting a little more out of control; people have been getting hurt, sometimes seriously(a broken arm here or there from the kickback of a malfunctioning duel disc is the official explanation) while playing HG Fighters.
The cliques at Justice High don't agree on much anymore; the Ninjas think the various Martial Artists are just too haughty; the Martial Artists think the Magic Girls spend way too much time fawning over the Samurai, I mean why do they get all the love we're the ones who can break walls barehanded! The Samurai think the Sentai gangs are just plain goofy; and nobody can comprehend why you'd wanna build a Giant Robot(except maybe if it was smart to do your homework for you). But they can all agree on one thing: This HG Fighters thing is getting out of hand; the cheerleaders aren't paying much attention to ANY of them anymore now that those hotshots are around winning tournaments and getting money! If this keeps up, they'll have to get actual jobs to get money to impress those girls!
Then it all goes south.
An impromptu HG duel on the roof between an established HG player and a shy, introverted student ends with a holographic black dragon looming high over the school, part of the roof caved in, and the popular champion falling from the roof after he says the black dragon attacked him and not his HG Spirit!
After more property damage from the mysterious Black Dragon Spirit and some shady characters hanging around, and some good, juicy info brought to the PCs attentions by the school paper's new reporter(who is instinctively trusted because she's eyepoppingly beautiful), they find out:
Black Dragoon has returned. And that can only mean the Meizatsu Inc. is back in business.
And thus it is decided among the cliques at a war council that a mission must be put together to destroy the Black Dragoon. Since it's power seems to tempt all but one, a mousy new female exchange student, she must obviously be brought along to safeguard it(oh, but how to keep it away from Samurai, Ninja, and Martial Artists!), with a bodyguard; since none knows if they will return(not to mention the fact that they'll miss school!), not all can go; and because of the fact that no one clique completely trusts the others not to try to seize the power of the Black Dragoon, each must donate a member.
And so it's agreed. With the girl and Black Dragoon in tow, they must brave the perils of a large city, face unmentionable peril(like missing dinner! Oh yeah, and those ninjas who wanna kill them), and learn to cooperate(plus deal with the mousy student who wants a boyfriend and a group of friends) on their mission to stop Mr. Darkness from rising again and using the power of the Black Dragoon to take over the world!
So, what do y'all think? Anime enough? Black Dragoon is basically a replacement for the One Ring, with a dangerous Dragon Spirit bound inside. It can only be destroyed by releasing the Black Dragoon back in Meizatsu's supercomputer(which will probably also fry the computer) and I'm gonna work out ways to do dungeons and stuff like that(subways and stuff most likely
