D&D 3E/3.5 Blindsight 3.5 - not for wizards anymore?

Looking at options as of how to obtain blindsight as a wizard I was shocked to see that Blindsight, Greater in the SC revision is no longer on the wizards spell list. Since I remembered having a Wizard with that spell before I stumbled across the extended permancy list in Savage Species and there it was. Improved Blindsight used to be a wizard spell back in the days. Next thing I was looking in the errata of the SC assuming WotC simply forgot my lovely Wizard in the list. But no! The spell obviously got revised and Wizard intentionally left out on purpose. Is there any greater logic to that which I don't understand?

Blindsight is for everyone who can pay!

-Blindsighted Weapon Property (Magic Item Compendium) +2 weapon (8000gp) enhancement, grants Blindsight 10' due to the weapon whispering instructions to you. Silence spell and effects negates weapon ability.

-Blindfold of True Darkness (Magic Item Compendium) a blindfold that grants Blindsight 30', immunity to gaze attacks and other effects that rely on sight. 9000gp. You cannot use any vision while wearing.

But yeah, odd that it's not a spell on the Sor/Wiz list.

My last character a monk had the Blindfold of True Darkness. 30' and the loss of all other vision makes it unpracticle for a wizard though. Improved Blindsight (now Greater) had 60' and could be made permanent which was nice. It's strange to see that the spell level for that also got decreased which makes it even cheaper to cast permanceny.
The weapon property is of no use since my elf mage rarely has a hand free to carry any weapon (rods, scroll, books plus material components). Plus with a STR of 8 I need to be picky of what to carry
And correct me if I'm wrong but Dragonsight gives me Blindsense not not Blindsight right?

Wizards get a pretty good Blindsight spell actually. It is found here. It's a bit higher in level, admittedly, but it's still among the best spells for its level.

As a brief necro here... All isn't lost though, I'd think if you could find a cleric/druid to cast Blindsight, Greater for you, you should still be able to make it Permanent.

Shouldn't you?
