[Blood and Guts] Help me assemble a Special Forces team

Sergeant First Class Isaac Young [Comm Sergeant]

Tough 2 / Dedicated 2 / Field Guide 5 / Ranger 2 / Special Forces Communications Sergeant 1

Background: From Moab, Utah, where his father and uncles worked as field guides in Canyonlands National Park. Young became a consummate outdoorsman, more comfortable on the side of a mountain or plunging down the Colorado River than around other people. Quietly patriotic, Young enlisted at an early age. He quickly distinguished himself as a Ranger LRP [Long Range Patrol], spending weeks at a time in the field with little more than a rifle, a radio, and a Bible. More recently, he completed Special Forces training. His reconnaissance and survival skills make him an asset to any detachment.

Notes: Deeply religious [although he doesn’t talk about it]. Doesn’t drink, smoke, or swear. Frequently paired with Holahta, for whom he acts as a spotter. Keeps his own counsel, but considers the team his surrogate family, and respects the chain of command. Maxed out in Search, Spot, Listen, and Survival.

[That's six of twelve. "Field Guide" is from the Dark*Matter minigame from Polyhedron --- you could swap in levels of Explorer or even Infiltrator.]

No, I sure don't. Sorry.
Maybe Vig does --- it's his baby.

Is that SF officer advanced class already written out? I tought I had seen it somewhere, but I lost track off all the int I found here...
edit: also the Tactician advanced class mentioned above, in what book is that mentioned?

Thx

I don't have my books in front of me...Tactician might actually be called Strategist. It's in Blood and Guts.

The SF Officer hasn't been written out yet...but it should be. I can't decide whether it should be for commissioned officers only, or warrant officers as well, or both of those plus operations sergeants.

I actually did some sample character builds a few weeks back...it went something like this...

1. Strong Hero 3 [Basic training and advanced infantry training, pretty much]

2. Strong 3 / Solider 3 [Jump School, Non-Com School, [promotion to Sergeant]

3. Next two levels are training in your SF specialty, and language school. Smart Hero 2 for engineer and comm, Dedicated Hero 2 for medics, two more levels of Strong for weapons specialists.

4. And then you're qualified for your first level in the appropriate SF class.

So I put the Staff Sergeants at 9th level and the SFCs at 12 [with three more levels in the SF class, including the team's intelligence sergeant]. The Ops sergeant and Tech would both be at least 12th level [probably higher] --- both of them veteran SF noncoms who have risen through the ranks. Not sure about the Captain.

I found the Strategist Prestige Class, it was at the end of BnG, while I was searching with the other classes...
The character I was playing is a level 2 Fast/level 2 Charismatic/level 2 Smart/level 1 Soldier, he started out as Combat Engineer private, got himself promoted and was sent to OCS, then finished his Bachelor degree while stationed in Afghanistan. I was looking to get him to SF, but I had to flesh out a SF Offr Class.
I guess I must let him level in Soldier some more, to get him the BaB needed, and then do some Strategist levels, and let him become SF Captain by level 10-12.
