Blood, Guts, and Severed Limbs

I've revised my critical hit system so that all creatures, regarless of hit points, are equally subject to critical hits. I want to note that I took much of this material from a web site, which I can't find now, so, unfortunately, I can't give my reference proper credit. It's an attached Word file. Check it out and tell me what you think.

I realize that this makes combat much more chaotic and deadly, but that's what I'm trying to achieve because my players are always killing everything in site. I figure that this critical hit system might give them something to think about before charging into battle. I want them to realize that combat is not joke, that people get seriously hurt even if they are very experienced, and I want them to roleplay more before deciding that they want to start chopping away.

Thanks,

Xane

try looking into the chaosium Stormbringer system. you may like it. The slow advancement, STEEP level diffrence and starting out weak of the D20 system makes brutal crit systems very difficult to manage. In the stormbringer / d100 system one normal hit can kill and experience grants skill at avoiding getting hit rather than being able to take the sword blow in the stomach 5 time in a row. If a foe gets to attack before you can dodge or parry you could very well be dead from that first blow.

It's from DnDChick's website. Too lazy to look up the url, but at least you have something to work with now in locating it.
