no, it is not just the fans of this game. Its internet fans. They complain about things they don't understand, they spout off like they know things when they clearly don't, and if it wasn't so funny to read it would be wasted space.

Amen.

It isn't! Personally, I like the new strategy. Some kinds of books I prefer to have in print, some I prefer in PDF (I bought the Advanced PHB and the Advanced Bestiary in PDF because I see them as simple campaign, adventure references which I would rarely need to have at the gaming table). Occasionally, I even get one in both. I bought Arcana Unearthed in both, for example.

Fans of this one seem to think a PDF version somehow disrespects the genre. They irrationally ignore the impending release of the print version, they cry foul with phrases similar to those used by jilted lovers, they throw tantrums -- including the favorite internet pasttime "I will never buy a single product from Green Ronin!" -- and they seem to think it is all justified.

Maybe it's the kind of players attracted to this kind of game. ;)

Never said anything about the PDF version. My only comment was the lateness of the book, in general and the lack of any information regarding the release date for several months.

If we didn't have faith in the product, we would have cancelled it a year ago. We did not. It did, however, take longer than we expected to make it into the game we wanted. I'm sorry people had to wait but I'm not sorry we took extra time. There's a saying the computer game industry that's equally applicable to RPGs: "A late game is only late until it comes out, but a bad game is bad forever."

We released the PDF first because it's part of a new strategy we are experimenting with this year (PDF first, followed by print edition). Malhavoc has been doing this for years and it doesn't seem to have hurt their print sales. Folks who don't want a PDF will be able to get a print version in about a month. Whatever way you want the game, you can have it. I fail to see how this is a black mark.

I never said I thought the PDF version was a black mark. I said that I thought the wonky release dates were a black mark or disappointment may be a better word. Otherwise, I have had no issue with Green Ronin and often sing their praises, not to mention forcing my friends at the FLGS to order GR stuff for their shelves.

The first release date listed was August/ September, then November and then January. I understand delays, but my preference would be to not list the release date until you can be firm.

That would also help those of us who have budgets make sure to allocate the money in the right spot.

Then you need to ignore all book dates that are given in more then a month in advance. And even a month might be to long becasue printer problems can delay a book. So, companies would not be able to talk about a book until it was being shipped out for sale.

Not at all. Instead of a release date, you could give a publishing pipeline report or even just target a quarter. You could say Winter 2005 etc.

So, they would have said fall 2004, since that was the orginal release...and dealys would have placed them in winter. Publishers don't see the future, they don't know what if any delays will occur.

Personally, I see Blue Rose as being one step closer to the return of Dragon Fist, especially after reading '10 Things You Need To Know About Blue Rose'. Heck, that got me tempted to get it just to see what I could do with the basic stuff.
