Bluff for CA

As a standard action? I see no reason why it shouldn't be at-will basically. Now, there are of course some feats and paragon paths, etc that modify it. Once it gives you a free basic attack (so it's at least comparable to a standard action) and giving combat advantage to everyone, etc ...it becomes something people might actually use, and not necessarily something that should be at-will.

So make the 'enhanced' versions work just 1/enc.

Bluff-for-CA being 1/enc has always kind of irked me. It just sort of stands out in a weird way.

I'm guessing that aside from the general "skill tricks are 1/encounter so as to not step on the toes of real powers, and unforseen abuse, etc" stuff, it also had to do with the logic that after you've pulled the "Hey, look over there" trick once, it probably won't work again against the same group of monsters [although they are gullible enough to fall for it if someone else in your party pulls it ...]

When I read the thread title, I suddenly remembered the latest terrain powers article.
(look it up, it's good)
Just a thought, but maybe the idea of lowering the type of action by tier could work with skill tricks too.

How often have you seen a PC uses bluff to gain combat advantage?

My Changeling Rogues bluffs for CA twice per encounter every encounter.

With how easy it's become to gain combat advantage, is it even necessary to keep this skill as the ONLY "per encounter" skill use in the game?

As long as you then remove or rewrite feats like Skilled Feint and Daring Performer, there probably wouldn't be much of an issue if you removed the "per encounter" usage.

The Beguiler Path for Vampires has a level 11 feature that makes it a minor action. It will certainly be useful there, though as a standard action it's pretty useless.

The Rogue in my group has used it quite often since he picked up the feat/power which makes it a Minor action (I forget the name just now).
