Board Game Suggestions!

Woas

First Post
Padding my '09 Christmas List. I always throw some boardgames on there. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. I usually head over to BoardGameGeek but there's always just so many!

I go for more casual/quick to play and set up games, not so much the war games or ones that take all weekend. Here is a quick list of games I currently own in no particular order:

Carcasaonne
Settlers of Catan (plus expansion)
Modern Art
Ticket to Ride!
Peurto Rico
Bang! (The Bullet edition with all expansions)
Mother Sheep
Citadel

Settlers of Catan is always a good choice.

I know! I have it plus the expansion ;)

I'm sorry if I was unclear as I was half paying attention while typing that and checking other websites for board game info. The games I listed are games I already own. I put them down so suggesters could avoid suggesting games already in my possession.

Count me for another Lost Cities vote. Scarab Lords not so much.

More good "quick" games: Black Sheep, TransAmerica, Dominion, Chrononauts, Kingdoms, Five Crowns.

Agricola is another game that can be quick after multiple playthroughs. And it can be played solo, which is a big bonus for me. Race for the Galaxy is a bit complicated at first but after you get familiar with it the games go faster. The game is a sibling to Puerto Rice if you like that one.

Do you like two player only games? The best two-player only game I've ever played it Starship Catan. Seonaid and I love it!

Of the games suggested, I've played Chrononauts, TransAmerica, and Dominion. They're all great games, and each different in style.

TransAmerica is the simplest of the three. It's the exception to my "I don't play rail games" rule. You'll need to bring your brain, but once you get it you get it--this isn't the sort of game where you slowly develop your strategy as the months go by.

Dominion is that sort of game. The most complicated of the three, it's also got the most replay value (and two expansions so far). If your looking for strategic depth, this is a great choie.

Chrononauts is fun silliness. Brain not required (but it does help). Randomness is a huge factor. And you'll be too busy laughing at the cards to be mad that you've lost.

I know! I have it plus the expansion ;)

Naw, I read quickly and poorly.

Lots of folks seem to like Power Grid. I've played that and Agricola and Race for the Galaxy and enjoyed them all. Also, Stone Age.

Ya know I've never really played 2-player board games (I mean other than chess maybe?) so I don't know per se if I do or don't like them, but boardgames usually get broken out as alternatives to RPGs or other group activities so I'd say that multiple player aspect is necessary.

Thanks for the suggestions so far!

Dominion is definitely worth a recommendation (or two ;)). Awesome game (won game of the year here in germany, which means quite a bit), and it's easy to learn and quick to play, too.

I also like Pandemic (a cooperative game, where you play together to defeat several viruses that are spreading throughout the world). It's also not hard to learn and doesn't take forever, and it is nicely different.

Bye
Thanee
