Body destroyed at -x hp? (Hide Life)

This might need to be moved to House Rules as there seems to be no actual rule governing it.

The DM has tentatively agreed to your body being destroyed at negative (2 x HP), which would put my target number at -582hp (291hp, 231 of that is from Con bonus).

Not sure if it matters anymore as I've been turned to stone and the rest of the party is either dead, confused or permanently stunned... and this was all on the surprise round.

I'm still interested in what others have to say about this topic however.

I'd probably go with neg hp equal to your Death From Massive Damage Threshold, adjusted for size. A medium sized character would be -50. Large -60. Small -40. That would be enough damage to possibly kill you outright twice.

Considering you have to be at least 17th level, unless you got 2 hp per level or less for every single level (including any Constitution bonus), including all of your loot for being a near-epic-level PC, chances are 50 hp isn't going to be enough to kill you outright twice.

Huh? Your DFMDT doesn't change based on your level or hp. 50 points forces a death save at 1st level and at 20th. If you fail, you die.

I have two cents, my first one is this, if you get to -11 with this spell activated, you shoul die a horrible death and then have a smoke.

That being said, I am of course joking. What everyone needs to know is this, it is not a near epic level game, it is epic level, I know, because I play with him. It is not uncommon for use to take ove 200 hps in on attack so 5,000 xp for a 9th level spells that only buys you anywhere from 1 to 60 extra hit points is not worth it.

Of course there are no rules for this, but if I had to make a guess, I would say that you should not allow the spell, but since it is, to make it fair for the cost, I would say 1d4+1 your hit points in the negative before it is unusable.

The way I rule it is that you are staggered from -10 to -X, where X is your normal total HD, and unable to take any actions when you have -X hit points or less. You don't die, but you become helpless and unconcious.
