BoED -- Vow of Non-Violence

Under Vow of Nonviolence it states that "the saving throw DC for spells you cast or other special abilities you use against humanoid or monstrous humanoid targets is increased by +4 if the spell does not deal damage (including ability damage but not nonlethal damage), bestow negative levels or cause death.

Would you add this +4 to the benefits of Vow of Peace? For instance, would the DC of your calming aura and the DC of your manufactured weapon shield be increased as well? Against humanoids and monstrous humanoids only, of course . . .

I would say the DC of the calming aura would go up, but not the weapon breaking of manufactured weapon DC. The reason for this is that the calming aura would affect the creature, while the weapon breaking ability explicitly states that the weapon makes the save, not the creature. I personally don't think even though it's an attended item, you would get the bonus.

On the other hand, if an ogre was using a goblin as an off hand weapon, you just might add it. =D

Halflings are better. They have a +1 Racial Bonus when you throw them, right?

Well...it does say that you get +4 verses spells _and_ special abilities, so yes you should get the bonus. As far as the weapon breaking goes, the weapon does not make the save, the person does because it is an attended object.

Man, I thought you were taking that into account :). I'm glad Ajax (a co-party member of the character Gfunk is asking about) is an Outsider :).
