Book looked good. Bought it. ... Haven't used it since.

Haven't had much use for the Planar Handbook. I suppose someday it will be useful...
Arcana Unearthed...My group really didn't feel playing a slightly different version of D&D. Fun read though.
Midnight Setting Book...My GM at the time had Gamer ADD, despite an initial fervor, everyone quickly lost interest.
Spycraft...Man did I think it was good when I read it..Played it, did not like it so much anymore. Good things about it..But..bleh!

Deities & Demigods as well. That book really was a pile of trash.

Conversely, I have gotten a lot of use out of Savage Species. My players want to be demons, fairies, centaurs and ogres. It's actually grown quite annoying.

The Book of Vile Darkness and Book of Exalted Deeds, neiher of which see any use except as very very rarely used monster books. Most of whats in there sees no use as the spells, posions, feats and PrC's don't fit my games.

Savage Species is another that I bought purely for the monster templates, though I have a half-thought out plan to use the monster racial classes at some point.

These days I buy modules and monster books and thats about it.

The only book I bought and haven't actually used yet is Underdark, but that's because my campaign hasn't led there yet. I'm certainly going to use it at some point in the future.

I'm pretty good at judging whether I'm going to use a book or not, so I rarely buy stuff I don't need.

Now, buying books you'll never need again is part of being a gamer, I guess :)

I just bought "Exalted", even though I'll probably never find a group to play it. Same with Adventure!, and even my Trinity campaign was short-lived (that was my fault, though).

As to D&D/d20, I think Grimm will never see the light of play, though I'm hoping for a one-shot one day. I have regretted buying Savage Species, which I was hesitant about. At least it has warned me off from Deities and Demigods and other WotC books I was hesitant about. Truth be told, except for the revised core books, SS was my last WotC purchase. (I don't count Dungeon Magazine)

Creature Collection from SSS has seen no use imc, and I only like two or three things in there. The PsiHB is an nice book to have, but haven't played with it.

But I'm not bitter, since most books I have were at least interesting to read and have given me a smidgen of inspiration, and even if not - buying nice books is just part of the game, for me. :)

Hmm. "Traps and Treachery" by Fantasy Flight, "EQ: Monsters of Norrath" by Sword & Sorcery Studios, "Sovereign Stone d20" back when I thought I might actually _use_ an alternate magic system ... those are the biggies. Most of the other stuff I've bought I either have used or will use at some point, with the exception of the original Psionics Handbook ... which I wanted to use but never got around to. I have a definite, planned use for ExPsiHB, tho, so that takes care of that problem. :)

Conan d20, which I wanted more than anything, I've only used once, at a Dragon*Con tourney game ... and in that particular case, I'd left my book at home anyway. :uhoh: Turns out, it didn't really run significantly different from D&D, other than not having any mage or cleric in the party. Conan is not something that really comes across in a single session, so much as the cumulative effect of lots of small differences.

-The Gneech

Monte Cook's Arcana Unearthed, and the Diamond Throne setting. I'd love to use them, but they're so radically different from the core D&D game that I run...
