Heretic Apostate

Someone should publish book containing all the nifty rules that were listed as Open Content (or whatever the term is...) by their publishers...
There are a bunch of rules and stuff I'd like to check out, but paying $30-$40 per book just to get a little blurb of information is impossible, at least with my budget (or lack thereof...). Even just browsing a book is impossible, because the local gaming shop closed down (it's now an antique shop), the next closest place is a hole in the wall at the mall in the next town (and they are set up for comic books, with little room for RPGs), and I don't want to have to travel farther than that (given that I've been rearended three times in three years, I'm a little skeptical of the driving skills of my fellow motorists...).
But spending the same $40 on a book that includes the armor rules from here and the hit point rules from there, that'd be cool...
