Book of the Righteous Holy Warrior 3.5

Cool - thanks for the response, Chris. BotR is one of my favorite d20 purchases and I've been working with it a lot lately to flesh out the religions in my homebrew.

I also realize that updating old 3.0 stuff to 3.5 isn't necessarily a "money making venture" for you all. So, I appreciate that you guys are taking the time to update this class.

We do have to analyze the best way for us to do things, and that does indeed have to take into account profitability and staff time. For some books, like the Witch's Handbook and the Shaman's Handbook, it wasn't that hard to put together a couple of pages that gave a quick and dirty 3.5 update. Things like monsters or updating the holy/unholy warrior require a lot more work. Hence Book of Fiends, which was a huge amount of work even starting with Legions of Hell and Armies of the Abyss. We still haven't decided how to present the holy warrior. I have considered taking both holy and unholy warrior and rolling them into one PDF release. We did hear from a lot of people that they really wanted the holy warrior but not bad enough to pay $40 for the Book of the Righteous. Would you guys be cool with a $5 PDF of that sort? I can say that when the project has a chance to recoup its cost, it gets a much higher priority.

HW PDF for sure

I've been wanting a product of just that sort. If you produced a Holy Warrior stand alone PDF I'd buy it for sure.

I think they should just buy book of Finds and use the Unholy Warrior as a "guide" for changing the holy Warrior. Worked for me anyway.

Holy Warrior PDF Update

I'd pay $5 or so for a PDF update of the Holy Warrior, but hopefully a product like this could include some new holy warrior domains.

Maybe you could run a "contest" of sorts for fans to submit their custom HW domains, and your staff could select some of the winning ones to appear in the PDF.

Basically, getting more than just a 3.5 update of the HW would make the purchase price more palatable for a lot of folks, I imagine.

I'd definitally get a $5 PDF about holy/unholy warriors. I had a cohort (who keeps popping up every once in a while) who was a holy warrior.

I too would spend $5 on an update like that. If you make it more of a stand alone product, down-and-dirty but still stand alone, you'd probably be able to get more people to buy it than just those of us who bought BotR.

Count me in for an update (and a bit of new material) for a PDF of around $5. My DM, Nail, introduced me to the book for his campaign over a year ago, and we've enjoyed it so much I'm using it as the base pantheon IMC starting this midsummer (though it's a merged 3.5/AU campaign so the pantheon is central to the story but I don't expect a lot of Clerics since I'm using Monte's spell system).

I played a Holy Warrior of Morwyn for ~9 months (Life & Guardian domains) and we did update him for 3.5. Not sure of the changes we made but since my guy was already 4th level, they were pretty minor or irrelevant (since he got all his powers during levels 1-3, it didn't matter which one when, though Turn Undead obviously came at 4th instead of 3rd). The one thing I can remember was instead of increased numbers of Smites I think we gave him increased numbers of Hand of Life attacks.

Anyway, again Chris, since I plan on making the Holy Warrior available in my upcoming campaign, I'll definitely pick up the update PDF when it's released.

Thanks.

Botr

Hmmm, I would like to point out that to provide a 3.5 update for BOTR could get more people to buy the 3.0 BOTR. People want 3.5 books, not the old 3.0..... I would like to see a 3.5 update for free, or a new book expanding on the BOTR with the 3.5 udate.
