Boots of Striding and Springing

I was just looking through my DMG, and noticed something. I had heard on here that they do not double a monks increased speed because its supernatural. Where does it say this? It just says normal speed. If a 9th level monk has these, is his speed 110, 120, or 60(doesnt double at all, as its supernatural). Nowhere in the boots info, or the info on expeditious retreat (which is needed for the boots) does it have a specific restriction.

None of the above - it's 100'.

The FAQ clarifies "normal movement", in the case of a monk, to be "non-supernatural". His non-supernatural movement is 50' - double that to get 100'. The increase does not stack with the supernatural portion of the monk's movement.

ok....so he doesnt get any of his supernatural movement?

Well, he would if his Supernatural movement outstripped his normal movement.

For a normal, base 30 person, that doesn't happen... I'm not sure how the maths works out for people with lower or higher base speeds.

Oh well. Still, thats a lot better than the rest of the party. Im making a rogue 1/monk 9. He has boots of striding and springing, so hes moving pretty fast. Our 2 pallys have movement rates of 40 due to the boots.
