Boskone 40 (Boston's other Con)

MavrickWeirdo

First Post
This year Boskone is returning to Boston (The Sheraton Boston Hotel to be specific.)
February 14th to16th (Because what could be more romantic on Valentines Day than listening to "The Mad Scientist's Love Song")

Here's the link Boskone 40

I will be there, AND my work will be in the art show :) :) :)

If any other ENWorlders are there just leave me a message at the "voodoo mesage board"

Congrats about your art! That's really cool.

I'm giving this a pass this year. For some reason, sci fi cons just aren't my thing. Which is odd because I like gaming cons; I think for me the reason is that at gaming cons, I'm there to do something specific. Last sci fi con I went to, I just sort of wandered aimlessly. Ah, well.

Have you been to these in the past? How do they compare to Arisia?

I have been to both Arisia and Boskone in the past. Boskone tends to have more of a literary focus, and I think is more "family oriented". They get a good number of authors, and their share of filkers.

On the other hand, Boskone does not have a costume competition, I'm not sure how the Art Show and Auction compares. I believe Boskone has less film and gaming events than Arisia, but they do have some. I always have fun at Boskone, my only regret is that most of the best parts happen in different places at the same time.

I'm home

The Con is over, a good time was had by many. For those of you who might have come I'll let you know a little of what you missed.

Panels and Discusions:

Making Fantasy Real
with George R. R. Martin, Steve Miller, Tamora Pierce, Delia Sherman

Creating an Alternate History for Your Roleplaying Game
with Lee Gold

Creating Fantasy Worlds (Does your castle in the clouds have credible sanitation? Economics? Ecology? Geology? ect.)
with Gregory Frost, Laurie J. Marks, George R. R. Martin, Juliet Mckenna

Exibits:

Arms & Armor (including sword fighting demonstration on sunday)
by Higgins Armory

I didn't get to spend much time in the gaming room, but whenever I went by, there seemed to be a game of "Munchkin" in progress.

For me personally, none of my artwork sold, but I got lots of positive feedback.

I got into several interesting conversations such as; Vadiacan Astronimers, Libraries of the future, space exploration, The "Intelligent Design" theory of evolution, Fan outreach, to name a few.

All together it was fun for me, just wanted to share.
