[Boston] Arisia! Games! (Updated blurbs 12/21/03)

I was one of the Storyteller's for a LARP at Arisia back in January 99 (during this huge snowstorm!).

That was a great time though...good LARP, loads of fun. I was playing this "full of himself but wise" Brujah Prince...at least I think I was...it's been five years now.

Well, that must have been really annoying.

It is possible that your case was an isolated incident or miscommunication, rather than a procedural or policy problem that needs fixing.

sadly, it was a widespread problem, to the point that the person running the gaming room simply decided not to check badges for that room all weekend as a compromise with the people she wasn't able to get comped (this is my recollection of last year. Some of my friends there did get comped because they were Mad Lab Rabbits, and the people they are the fan club of were the gaming guests of honor.) Since I was booked to the point of not having much to do except gaming, it worked out, but there were things I wish I could have done. I will prolly sign up to run games again this year, based on what BD said... The big question is if I will ever get my costume done... mmmm... athletic tape....

I went to the site, but the only gaming listed is that LARP thing mentioned in the starting thread. When will they put what they will be having for gaming on the site?

Well, you see, here I am putting out a call for GMs. I don't figure they can put up things about games until the GMs decide to run them. :)

Beyond that, I couldn't tell you. I'm helping Jason out a bit by posting here, but I'm not technically part of his department. I don't know if it is general policy to put up blurbs about the tabletop gaming or not. Arisia is a full-service sci-fi/fantasy con, so they've got a lot more than gaming they have to deal with.

So my question is, does your friend know about what happened last year (I wasn't the only one it happened to)? And has he gotten assurances that he can make this offer in good faith this year?

I am that friend. I do know about what happened last year, much to my own dismay. And I have gotten assurances that I can make this offer in good faith this year.

To wit: If you submit three or more hours of gaming programming by January 2nd to me at gaming@arisia.org or werther@hilander.com, I will be able to extend an offer of a comp to you for Arisia 2K4.

Note the codicils there: you've got to get it to me by the deadline, so that I can have a list to submit to the con com. You've got to get me a description and a summary. It must be at least three hours -- although if you're running some kind of board game, two sessions that are an hour and a half each are okay, too.

That's what I've got to offer. Anything else I can tell you about?

Umbran has the right idea. Accepted submissions will be posted on the site soon.

OP is dead as far as Living City is concerned; they announced the end of their involvement last week.

Keep us posted on cool gaming offerings!
