Boston Game Stores?

Looks like people have already mentioned the big Boston Stores. If you are in the North Shore at all, you might want to check out Harrison's and Red Lion Smoke shop. Harrison's has some nice stuff and a game room downstairs. Red Lion is just a real quirky smoke shop/magazine shop/comic shop/trinket shop/game shop. Red Lion is on Washington St and I believe Harrison's is on Essex.

PS Its pronounced "Bawstin" not "Bahstin".

Yep. They're right around the corner from each other. Kind of a trek from Boston, though; the nearest subway station is in Revere, about half an hour a way depending on traffic, but there's a nearby commuter rail.

Of course, if you are in the area, you really ought to check out Salem. There's a lot to see and do if you've never been here. Actually, I just noticed Professor Pain neglected to mention that Harrison's and Red Lion are both in Salem. :)

Oops. Sorry there.

Asmor is right, there is tons to see in Salem: The House of the Seven Gables, The Peabody Essex Museum, The Corwin House, and Pickering Wharf. Lots of fun stuff to do as well. Good bar scene given the size of the city (if you are into that). Actually both Salem and Beverly have some good bars.

I enjoy Pandemonium Games when I go visit my GF. She and I tend to spend some time there. There's another store that's about a block and a half away from Bison County (I'm wondering if it's the one that PCat mentioned closing in Waltham), but I'm not certian which town that actually is. The one guy I met there knew about the games well enough and had even started his own website to talk about all different types gaming.

Hell yeah. Let us know when - it'd be fun to hang out.

Boston (Cambridge, actually) include Pandemonium (my favorite)

Just want to echo the praise for Pandemonium. I went to the last D&D gameday there, as well as an RPGA event. They have a good selection of stuff and are real nice. Lots of events happening and hosted.

I live south of the city, so I don't get in all that much. Down here the closest to me is Battlegrounds http://www.battlegroundgames.com/, in Abbington. They have a good selection, and while the owners/employees are cool, the "regulars" who hang out tend to be the kind of folks who scare of "casuals". I've started a 4E game with my neighbors, and they are all geeked up about it. They went there after work during the week to grab dice, and then came back frightened off by the folks who hang out there.

However, if you are in Boston proper, grab the T and go to Pandemonium. It's just off the Red Line Central Square Stop. It's a great place.

Also, visit Boloco :: BOLOCO :: for awesome burritos and smoothies!

I went to school out by Boston, and still have friends there. When I visit, we usually stop by Pandemonium and buy some random board game to play. In their new location, they seem to have ample space, while the above is a bookstore of fantasy books all over.

Really fun place to visit!

Yeah, that's Danger Planet in Waltham. I hadn't heard it closed either. Kinda too bad, although they were much more a board game and miniatures store than rpg. They had the requisite copy or two of the D&D books... but it was hardly their focus.

Although being a suburbanite along 128 meant it was much easy and more convenient for me than trying to get into Cambridge or Boston proper.

Pandemonium Books & Games
Technically Cambridge, but easily reachable on Boston subways. A local center of geek culture; now in Central Square, used to be in Harvard Square. Science Fiction and Fantasy books on the ground floor; games in the basement. Good selection of both.

LOL...appropriate.

But I can also recommend Pandemonium (I'm in NH) as being a good game store, especially if you like a nice selection of fantasy and science fiction as a bonus. They also have a pretty good selection of used RPGs, if I remember correctly, and carry some of the more obscure lines.

The Compleat Strategist on Commonwealth is the most cramped game store I've ever been in--it is a tiny little room that is filled to the brim. Kind of creapy, in a way (but aren't all game stores?).

If you're willing to go farther afield, Battleground Games in Abington looks good. I've never been, but the owner posts here and they look like they have a nice selection. I think its about 30-40 minutes from Boston. (Whoops, just saw it was already mentioned...oh well).

They ... are real nice.
I may have to check it out at the new location then. I had a very unpleasant experience with them at their old Harvard location in the Garage. I spent almost $200 on Eberron books and was treated like absolute crap by whoever was working that day. And that was after spending almost that much 6 months before that on minis, dice, and some non-D&D stuff. Because of the way I was treated, I haven't been back since and have done all my game shopping at the Barnes and Noble on Route 1 in Saugus (I live in Revere). If they are "real nice" now, I may have to try them again. I always felt like someone who spent $400 at your store over a period of 6 months shouldn't be treated like some newb who was "OMG destroying D&D" by purchasing Eberron products and not wasting cash on Forgotten Realms.
