Bothered About Bad Acronyms: It's not too late!

I suggest they start using WANABE (Worried About....) since it is has the appropriate letter-per-word ratio, it's clever, self-effacing, and makes a humorous nod to BADD, the organization which inspired it.

Hmmmm..

IMHO, it's very important to drop these Acronyms ASAP. It'll just FUBAR this forum with all these BS titles hanging around 24/7.;)

I can't really disagree with what you posted, Victim. Mainly I see B.A.D.D. as dealing with the older and more powerful dragons. You have to remember, however, that even a juvenile dragon can have 50 years of experience, equal to that of a human elder, even if it doesn't have a high intelligence.

Oh, Wandering Monster, no hard feelings at all. Please continue. :D

As I recall, BADD was started after the defeat of a young adult black dragon that had 12 int. Not exactly the oldest and most powerful of dragons. Even after all the debate the that thread, I still don't see much that would have gone differently assuming that the dragon rolled the same on his save - instant death when you pop up is going to work the same way no matter what trick you have planned for after you pop up. About life experience, that's why I used elves as an example instead of humans.

I got it!:

Yes, I remember this encounter quite well. It was a matter of the dragon not using its powers to its full advantage. It was submerged underneath a flying invisible wizard--a wizard that it would have been able to sense had the DM running the encounter taken its Blindsight into effect. The dragon could have used its breath weapon from the safety of the pool without ever having to "pop up" at all, eliminating the threat of being turned into a worm without even having to expose itself to any danger whatsoever. So I guess the encounter could have played out quite differently had the DM used the dragon properly.

That's also one of B.A.D.D.'s goals--making sure DMs know enough about all of a dragon's special abilities, like its senses and magical abilities, before having it confront a party of adventurers. Since dragons are so complex in terms of what they can do, a DM needs this extra preparation.

BABA will evaluate acronyms for cleverness, and subject them to rigorous testing such as: mockability, number-of-words-left-out-of-the-acronym-so-that-you-could-use-a-cool-word-for-the-acronym-ability, integrity of purpose, scope of focus, pretentiousness, and...and...the last thing.

A truly noble cause. Okay, inspired by the original BADD (Bothered About Dungeons & Dragons) there's a parent's watchdog group in my high level Greyhawk campaign that feels the PCs are a bad influence on children, and they call themselves Bothered About Lazy Licentious Sorcerers.

Is that acceptable?
