BR - Khinasi Noble 1 / Wizard 2

Having just partially sketched out a Birthright d20 character with the GM, I thought I'd see if I could beg help again, and again for feat suggestions.

He is going to be something of a statesman (I hope!) but keep the magic going strong, of course.

Feats so far are (possibly): Commanding Voice*, Sweet Voice of Reason*, and Practised Spellcaster**.

That leaves one (Nobles get a bonus feat - any feat - at 1st level).

I'm planning to alternate levels of noble and wizard evenly until he's Noble 4 / Wizard 4, then go pure Wizard. . .

. . .unless anyone has a suggestion for a PrC that might suit, that is. That'd be cool too. Incidentally, the GM's open to players using just about anything - as long as he likes the look of it - no matter where it's from.

Here's the character's stats, if that helps: Str 10, Dex 15, Con 16, Int 17, Wis 14, Cha 16, Bld (Bloodline) 17. Yep, rolled 4d6 drop lowest. :D Next level, Int is going to 18.

His skill selection focusses mainly on the social and knowledge areas.

Also, if anyone has any other advice for preparing characters for the horrors of Birthright d20, that would be most welcome.

TIA. :)

Was that using the BRCS (from Birthright.net) with the revised Chap 1 and 2 info?

My initial question pertains the blood score number. In the revised (and sanctioned) chap 2 you take your initial die roll and multiply it by 2 (basically it more closely resembels the 2nd ed numbers).

Oops based on your comment on bonus noble feats (any feat) at 1st level it appears you are using the BRCS-playtest version.

I strongly recommend using the revised ruleset. The playtest was written for 3.0, mixing things written for 3.0 and things written for 3.5 in general cause balance problems. These can be handled but they must be looked at first in order to ensure they mesh together.

You can get the latest version from the following link. Just replace the playtest chapters 1 and 2 with the sanctioned ones. Note that there are some major changes to blood abilities and feats in the revision.

Are you playing a primarily domain level game, adventure level or a mix of both? The style of game determines which feats are best or at least better than others, for instance in an adventure level game any feat that provides domain level benefits (such as Regent Focus) is pretty much useless.

Heh. Well, if I can get our GM to look at that, I'll certainly suggest he does so. Thanks for the headsup, anyway.

It's to be primarily domain level, but somewhat a mix of both. I must confess, I'm a little bit out of touch (OK, a lot) with Birthright, as it's been a while, and I never got the chance to do enough with it back when.

And those experiences were with 2nd ed, so this is even stranger.

Er, what does Regent Focus do exactly?

Regent Focus [General]
You are particularly skilled with one aspect of domain interaction.
Benefit: Select one domain-level action. You gain a +4 bonus with one domain action check made for that action per domain round.

Special: You may select this feat more than once. Each time you take this feat, it applies to a new domain-level action

You might want to check out the revised magician also - more emphasis on interaction type of skills. The "new" spell list needs to be pdated when the magic chapter gets revised to reflect it though.

in 3.0/3.5 you can be a magician/wizard whereas you couldn't in 2nd ed.

Most common opponents in Birthright are by far humans (various cultures) since the game is set/designed for mostly diplomatic/politic style and is very human-centric.

In the Khinasi lands there is an inordinate amount of Anwsheigh to worry about though - so be real careful. At low levels if you find one - run away. There is no real common way for them to be presented except that they do have blood abilities and usually some physical manifestation that accentuates their personality by taking on some kind of physical natural attack form.

And Azrai blood abilities can be very, very dangerous.
