bracers of armor and armor magic special abilities stacking??

patch

First Post
hello all

It states very plainly that the AC bonus from BoA and armor do not stack, however what about the special abilities? ie if you have spell res on a BoA +2 and shadow leather armor +1 would that come out to be a AC +2 with spell res and shadow figured in? any comments would be appreciated. or a source to read up on.

Bonuses of the same type don't stack. Bracers of Armor +2 would give a total AC bonus of +2.

Leather Armor with Shadowed on it would also have to have a +1 enhancement (you can't add magical properties to armor without it already being at least +1). So your Shadowed Leather Armor would give an AC bonus of +3.

Bracers would be useless, except against non-corporeal attacks.

But let's pretend that we were comparing the Shadowed armor to Bracers of Armor +3, to make it an even comparison.

Your total AC bonus would still be +3. If the Bracers were AC +4 then they would be the clear winner, and the AC bonus would be +4.

Other properties of the armor, however, would still function since it isn't the magic armor that's negated/ignored, just its AC bonus. The Shadowed property would still function normally. There's nothing there that stacks with it.

Short answer: Yes.
Long answer: Your grammar is off, but you have the idea. Greenfield clarified perfectly well. If you have Bracers of Armor +8 (the highest) with Spell Resistiance, and Shadow Leather Armor equipped at the same time, your total armor bonus would be +8 (the bonus of BoA), you'd have both the Shadow effect and SR effect active as well.

Greenfield is also correct in noting that, in your original example. you'll have AC+3 (Shadow Leather Armor is better than Bracers +2 against everything but incorporeal attacks), Spell Res, and Shadowed.

Thank you both. just to recap the total AC is which ever is higher( when i made the example i was driving using my phone, didn't have any books to look at exact numbers) and the magic properties stack. P.S. i know my grammar sucks i'm a math guy.
