Brainstorming a Knightly campaign.

I'm going to expand on this, because it gives some great opportunities for courtly politics, which are important if you're playing a Knight game.

Perhaps the rival order wanted to be chosen to liberate this land, but the PC's order was chosen instead. Now, the thwarted order is trying to do anything they can to make the PC's and their allies look bad. The PC's may notice that some of their plans seem to be gettign into the hands of the enemy, or maybe troops they were counting on getting from a third party get called away to work for their rivals (all very above board technically, but questionable nonetheless).

The rivals could be just jealous and vindictive, but not evil - simply wanting to make the PC's look bad and have them removed from the city's control, or they could be truly evil and out to destroy the PC's and their order.

You may want to have a look at Sir Kendrik's "Love goes horribly Wrong" Story Hour for an excellent example of a knightly campaign (continued here and here).

The world is based around medieval feudalism, chivalry and honor. The DM also did a really nice job reframing the classical Greyhawk pantheon into a more-or-less monotheistic one (with various good gods being turned into saints, which still allows for different religious orders etc).

Overall, a very nicely written story hour as well. For the full story, you'll have to check over at wizards.com, which is unfortunately down right now. Just search for "Kendrik".
