Brainstorming Good Luck Goddess Believers

First Post
I'm in a bit of a jam. I need a lot of NEW believers in the CG demi-goddess of good luck. The goddess is relatively unknown (what with there being a god of luck and a demi-god of bad luck, after all), but will soon become very well known due to the efforts of my player, who saved Freeport, a "privateer" city-state.

The PC's going to get the chance to use Mongoose's conversion mechanic, which will mean that she converts thousands, as she's a bard using her diplomacy skill. Basically, the PC is going to make this goddess into the new fad. If she does real good RP work next session, she'll build the church significantly with a number of dedicated worshippers.

What that means, however, is that I need a number of new believers for the PC to meet and convert into fervent belief. So if anyone has ideas for quirky NPC concepts based around this theme, that would be so very helpful. Who would say "This new goddess is for me!" What wacky circumstances would lead the person to say that?

What is the demi-goddess like? What are these NPCs to find appealing? The demi-goddess' primary portfolio is good luck, with a secondary emphasis on "getting lucky." Her totem creatures are cats, pixies, spiders, crickets, and frogs. Bards, not clerics, have tended to be her favored class. She's allied with Ariadne, the goddess of Aranea. The demi-god of small, non-sentient insects has a total crush on her. She's opposed to Loki, the demi-god of bad luck, and Lamashtu, the demi-goddess of monstrous births.

I will award XP...

Malvolio is a gambler and a con-artist. He was abducted from a noble family at age 8 for ransom but was never returned. He watched games of chance at the den of iniquity where he lived and stole some dice at the age of ten; he has been fascinated by chance ever since. His captors used him as a pickpocket for a time and Malvolio picked the pocket of a magister of the local University and ended up with a treatise on probabllity. He quickly absorbed all the information, as he was able to read having been taught before he was abducted, and in his spare time did all sorts of calculations trying to improve odds of winning at games of chance. He began dicing and made alot of money. This allowed him to pay to attend the local university, hopeful of creating a perfect system of "beating the odds". Malvolio is now close to doing so and is obsessed with chance. he appears as a haggard, pale skinned student who is dissolute and flamboyant. He is like a painter in temperment in that he often idles away his time gambling and spends alot of his money on women. He dreams of understanding the very nature of chance, and is a mathematical genius.

Olisia has a split personality; she lives as a travelling player, which suits her well as she has no real idea who she is and likes to lose herself by playing the roles of other people. She is capricious and whimsical and every morning flips a coin to decide who she will be today. Even so, she can frequently be heard talking to herself; the two personalities warring. Her two dominant personalities are Saldia, a shy and very easily dominated woman who is afraid of her own shadow and is a drug addict and Mogda; an extrovert and overly confident woman who is a man-eater and enjoys drinking, singing and dancing. The problem is, that Saldia hates men and if Saldia emerges whilst Olisia is with a man then she has a nasty habit of poisoning them. So Olisia is obsessed with the idea that if she can control which face the coin comes down upon, she can control her life.

There are a little extreme, but let me know if they are something like what you are looking for or if they are too way out there for your campaign.

What about a group of street children? They would be attracted by the cats and pixies; they would find the lucky aspect of the goddess very helpful in their daily lives, and would be eager for protection against Loki and Lamashtu.

I can see a bossy girl of 12 or 13 in charge of a half-dozen noisy, colorful, thievish kids showing up at the new temple, holding a lost kitten and demanding help...

Great idea. She's got a slum kid as a cabin girl already.

Sissslarn is a lizard man who is well known and accepted as harmless and lazy in your city. He spends his days sunning himself on the docks, warming himself in the sun. He catches rats and insects for people when he needs some money but generally tries to do as little as possible. Recently, he has become aware that someone is bringing a large influx of tasty insects into the area (crickets are his favourite) and wants to know who is bringing him this good fortune.

I imagine the goddess looking like an alternate lady justice. She has a blindfold on, but one eye is uncovered as if she is peeking. She has a mischievous grin. The scales of balance (in her right hand) are noticeably tipped in one direction. She is leaning on her luck blade, which she holds in her right hand, and which is firmly planted like a cane at a slant in the ground.
