Brass/Spiked Knuckles (normal game, but d20 modern input also welcome if available)

One of my players recently showed interest in creating brass knuckles or spiked knuckles. How would these weapons be statted? I know they hurt less than gauntlets, but I would think they'd do more numerical damage than an unarmed strike. How would all of you handle this?

Also, I would think these thigns may already be in D20 Modern, so if any of you playthat, are they in there? If so, what are the stats?

I would guess that this character's desire is based more on color and schtick than anythng else so I would just treat them as spiked gauntlets rather than penalize him/her by making them weaker. I suppose one could argue that spiked brass knuckles are less efective than spiked gauntlets but I wouldn't worry about it.
