Break like the wind..or Which Witch?

Enceladus

First Post
I run a d20 campaign.

One of my players wants to play a witch.

Which source would you recommend, the Mongoose's Quint Witch or the GR's Witches Handbook?

I'm a little confused as to how they play? Do they use spellbooks like wizards or learn they're spells like sorcerers?

A little (or a lot) help here? :)

Thanks!

Well, there's a "witch" variant class discussed in the DMG, although when I hear "witch," I generally think "druid."

Shock! I'm agreeing with the Gneech. Are we talking a fairy tale witch or the Pagan/ Wiccan kind? You might want to have the person multiclass in Druid and Wizard or Sorc. or even Bard.

If you can wait until July, may I recommend the witch class featured in 1A The Hamlet of Thumble by my company Open World Press (an imprint of Mystic Eye Games)?

This witch has special abilities such as shape shift, monstrous strength, poison immunity, craft charm, etc. Spell-casting is similar to the sorceror.

There are dozens of new spells including "bewitch", "disfigure", "dream haunting", "hex", "hysteria", "inferno", "love", "possession", "temptation", and "withering touch".

It follows standard class progression for BAB and saving throws.

I have Quintessential Witch, and absolutely love it. One of my players will be playing one in a few weeks. It's like combining a Druid with a Wizard...

Chris

Does he use a spellbook or get his spells like a druid?

It was gnomes who goaded the orc into stealing my pie! I have a legitimate grudge.

So an Orc makes a pig of himself (not a far streach) and you blame an entire race. Why... If there were a witch around here I'd pay to have you turned into a pie and fed to an Orc. Or maybe not.;)
