Breathe Weapon Advancement

Crothian

First Post
I'm advancing a non standard dragon that doesn't have the advancement table like the metalic ones do. Are there any rules or relationships between HD of dragons and the dice of damage their breathe weapons do? The little guy starts with a d6 breathe weapon and I think it should increase a some.

The white dragon starts with 1d6 breath weapon, and increases 1d6 for every age category. I guess you could take that breath weapon advancement.

The same goes for the brass dragon (that funky dragon).

Dragons start with a certain Breath Weapon damage, at Wyrmling age, and increase by the same amount for every age category.

Extrapolating from the age tables in the DMG, the equivalent age table for any form of dragon has the following effect per +1 Age category:

+3d12 (Dragon hit dice)
+3 Natural Armor
+X breathe, where X is damage at age category 1

It also results in occasional size upgrades, and gradual stat increases, but those are less consistent.

Dragons without age tables don't necessarily increase their breath weapon with HD.
