Brief review of CA PrCs

First Post
First off, let me say I love the Warlock. The only problem I have with it is that theres no reason for the class to have the Dark Undertones they gave it. Especially in D&D where there are supernatural forces of GOOD too.

On with the show...(edit : The x/x is spellcasting levels/class levels. Sorry for the confusion)

Acolyte of the Skin : 5/10 Complete crap. Looks like a straight port from T&B where it sucked.

Alienist : 10/10 Left out a pre-req(SF(Conj)). Its playable, maybe even overpowered. Tho one of those classes that doesnt make much sense

Argent Savant : 4/5 Junk. Does +2AC from your Shield and/or Mage Armor spells make up for losing one level of spellcasting? What if I add in +2 to-hit and +1/die of damage from Force spells? Didnt think so. Nice Idea, Try Again.

Blood Magus : 8/10 Other than that, looks exactly like I remember from T&B.

Effigy Master : 4/5 Nice! Especially if you want a Clockwork-Horror type mage.

Elemental Savant : 8/10 Take a weak side of moderate PrC from T&B and beat with NERFSTICK! Loses another CL for no apparent reason, but the real NERF is that Energy Specialization is MANDATORY now. Your Fire mage facing a Red Dragon? Wants to throw a Lightning Bolt? Congrats! Its now a Fire Bolt! No say in the matter whatsoever. If you try a damage dealing spell with an Energy descriptor, it switches to your specialty. NITA.

Enlightened Fist : 8/10 Way overpowered. d8, Med BAB, two good saves, levels count as Monk levels for everything. YIKES!

Fatespinner : 4/5 With the last level being the one missing. Seal Fate is not that good. Spin is a lot easier than T&B. Eh...

Geometer : 5/5 Cheap spells in your book and you can pay 25gp to apply Silent Spell. Neat Idea, I like.

Green Star Adept : Decide for yourself.

Initiate of the Sevenfol Veil : 7/7 Can use the different shells of a Prismatic Sphere as individual defenses. Nice class. Terrible Prereqs(SF&GSF(Abjur) SkF(Spellcraft)) mean you'll never see one played.

Mage of the Arcane Order : 10/10 Didnt see any changes from T&B OTTOMH. Still uses 30gp a month dues instead of FR XP penalty.

Master Transmogrifist : 6/10 Oh boy! Another Shifter. This one has spell progression, but if you dont cast the spell you dont shift either. Eh, skip it. Get to Shapechange sooner and just eat 'em.

Mindbender : 5/10 I remember this being 7/10 in T&B. Your ability score now affects your ability DCs, so you're not completely worthless. OTOH, Just take Leadership and 1st level and you're already ahead of the game...

Seeker of the Song : 0/10 Cool Bard PrC.

Sublime Chord : Takes 3rd level spells to get into, then gives level 4-9 from the Bard or SOR/WIZ list. That could lead to the oddity of having more 4th than 2nd or 3rd spells but...Overall, not bad. Definitely a Bard that concentrates on spell casting. Check that, pretty good.

Suel Arcanamach : Eh, has its own charts. Casts as SOR, levels 1-5 from only ABJ/DIV/ILL or TRANS. d8, Med BAB, Spellsword ASF reduction and a Shining Blade like Dispelling Weapon. Pretty mediocre.

Wayfarer Guide : 2/3 Port from T&B that take into account changes to Teleport for 3.5.

Wild Mage : 10/10 Simple rules that cover the basics. Not much, but not bad.

I don't generally like PrC's, but I fell in love with the Fatespinner. I don't agree with your assertion that Seal Fate is not that good. Granted, the fact that you can only affect creatures of your level or less reduces a lot it's offensive potential, but if you are of equal level or higher than your allies, it rocks. What a blast to see a friend say "Damn... I'll miss this roll if I don't roll 15 or higher. I'm dead." and tell him "Why don't you add 10 to that roll then...".

That, and being able to let a friend reroll a missed roll, will guarantee that you'll be quite popular in that adventuring group !

Hmm... I'm really waffling on getting CA or not. The art looked really nice (they finally had some new Jeff Miracola work, yay!) and some of the stuff I might actually use. However CW and CD had... issues... so I'm really uncertain if I'll pick this up or not. I don't want to get burned, so I appreciate the reviews of the PrCs here. Thank you :)

Actually, this looks pretty cool and I would probably play it at some point or another.
