Gee! A political discussion that's spun of a thread, which I've since closed.

Granted, yes, this was posted before that thread was closed, but since this has very political leanings, and it tied to that thread, for the sake of my poor inbox which has been very busy today, I'm going to nip this in the bud.

and semper, im saying growing up as in 'grow up and quit bitching about it'. No matter how much griping, its not going away.

Deal with it and move on

Ashtal, are you really going to shut a thread down that is ABOUT censorship in the RPG industry?

This is not politics. Nobody has mentioned any political leanings. It's just a hot topic, that's all. It's on topic - right to the heart of the RPG industry. It's about what you can and cannot publish in that industry, and should be discussed.

And limiting the range of expression about a given concept is not censorship as long as the creator can still express that idea.

I vehemently disagree.

Any time you change HOW you express something, you change what was expressed.

If the comic book code was such a detriment to marketing, wouldn't WW have the edge?

Not necessarily. Being out of the gate a decade ahead of WW gave D&D quite a bit of advantage, I expect. One that wasn't to be overcome by a small edge in marketing.

And, btw, D&D is still a nich product itself. WotC research suggested something like 2 million gamers in the US. At best, then, we comprise less than 1% of the population. WotC calling WW "niche" is a pot calling the kettle black.

EDIT - Piratecat here, latching onto Umbran's message because he was the last to post. There's been some concern about censorship in a censorship thread, so please see this link to the Meta forum where we discuss the reason the thread was closed and when the topic can be reopened.

Thank you!
