Broken rulez

Outcast

First Post
It always happens , an official rule seems to be to powerful or a prestige class is broken. It happens .Which are the most famous corrections you make when you notice that it brings problems within the game.
I am playing a bladesinger and they are way overpowered. Sometimes i have an AC of 45-50 and i am only lvl 14!!
And what about the tempest or forsaker.

And dont you think heal or haste is to powerful!!

I will await your comments

My forsaker turned out to be a pretty big wuss... but perhaps I shouldn't have made him a monk first: mnk 3, forsaker 8

Should've allowed myself armor. Arrgh. I'll stick to duellists from now on.

I have an agreement with my players- anything they can do, I can do.. and usually much better.

With that in consideration, they are pretty good about altering something if we find it is too powerful in play. I don't do it without a discusion with the player(s) involved- I want them to see my point and find a solution that agrees with them.

No examples come to mind- but I know I dropped the ac bonus from haste. After that, it seems ok to me.

Nothong by itself in the game is to powerful. It's when you start adding up all the little things and abuse the rules that things get out of hand. Let's take your bladesinger. I'd be interested in how his AC gets that high.

yep I agree bladesinger is overpowered at least for what I have seen, forsaker probably too, but not heal or harm though. Tempest I don't find overpowered, it's brutal ok but the prerequisites are high (BAB +9, tons of feats for example)

Maybe anyone knows a weakness for the bladesinger because I don't ?(maybe HP or something)

last monday I cast power sight once and my dm immediatly banned it..:) and rightly so. Prolly the most underrated spell in the game.

More generally I think druids (wich I play) are possibly most open to horrible powergaming imaginable.... they won't really show up in smackdown threads a lot but they are the most adaptable class in the game and have an answer to just about everything.... and of course Miasma should have never been written. Automatic kill... no save.. 4th lvl.. what were they thinking?

I have a Bladesinger as well. 12th level. Here is my usual AC breakdown:

Elven Chain +1=+6
Dexterity 18-20 (w/Cats Grace)=+4 to +5
Intelligence 22 =+6
Haste =+4
Expertise =+5
Shield spell =+7
Dodge=+1

Grand Total +43-44 ...
against 1 opponent, 7 less from behind, 5 less if I don't want to take a -5 to hit.

This is after a few spells, and is specefically what the Bladesinger prestige class is designed to do: be hard to hit. It doesn't do much else very well. Saying a prestige class is overpowered because it is very good at doing the ONE thing it is designed to do isn't fair.

Power Sight is mostly an exercise in metagaming...and if usually not until late levels. A mage with limited slots would consider it a serious waste, until first level spells become less used. Miasma does allow a save, and it's not an automatic kill...it also is useless against things like constructs, the undead, and so forth. It's a poorly worded and badly designed spell, though, I agree. It's not too much worse than Phantasmal Killer, but it requires errata, I think.

well wizard dru... I'm 12th lvl and then power sight does indeed become VERY usefull.. as for Miasma, a succesfull save means nothing because you have to keep saving untill you fail... and failure means 0 hps and dying.

The save on Miasma is just delaying death. The only thing I know that will stop a Miasma is a dispell magic.

If that doesn't arrive before the first failed save... goodbye character (or dragon or whatever)
