Bronze items

Anyone familiar with any official rules for bronze weapons and/or armor?

I would imagine that they are heavier than standard items. Does the hardness differ? Critical range? Fumble DC?

From the Ravenloft D20 Campaign setting that Whitewolf/Sword & Sorcery/Arthaus (I was always confused about those White Wolf titles) put out, pp 22.

Bronze Weapons
Bronze is a soft metal. Bronze weapons have a hardness of 9, and piercing and slashing weapons suffer a -1 penalty to damage rolls.

Hope this helps some, its the closest thing that I’ve seen so far.

"Fumble DC"? That's a new one. God, I hope your DM doesn't house rule a "fumble DC". How lame.

Be nice. Apparently bronze weapons are more prone to breakage than steel ones. So on a natural 1 there might need to be some sort of check to see if they break.

Depends on the level of technology, of course. You can get bronze which is harder and tougher than pure iron. Some modern bronze is probably better than most forms of medieval steel.

I'm thinking that the difference is mostly cosmetic. Maybe hardness 9 (instead of 10), and 10% heavier than the equivalent steel items.

Mind you, now we're on the topic of house rules...

If the difference is only cosmetic and the price is the same, I'd always go for bronze.

Immunity to rust monsters and the like!
