The spokesbarbarian for Dungeon Magazine in some of the old ads in Dragon Magazine was Bubba. Bubba the Barbarian was great, but one of my favourite ads began "This here is Gephrekian Tallbow. He was an elf."
The headline for the ad was "DON'T MISS IT!", with a picture of an elf falling down a chasm towards a purple worm.
Unfortunately, the Text Search function of the Dragon 250-issue CD set doesn't extend to ads. It was in there somewhere, though.
Does anyone remember which issue it was in? The ad was hilarious, and I can remember most of it, but I'd love to find it again...
