Bubble-boy: Line of Effect issues.

Umm... no offense, but where do you get the rules justification for the gap size?

Well, hey, if it were me, and I wanted to know about the rules for Line of Effect, I'd try looking in the PHB index under "Line of Effect"...

Maybe that's too sensible, though :)

Dang, look at that! I was thinking it was a house rule - but you made me go and look, and I was rewarded. :)

From the SRD:

"An otherwise solid barrier with a hole of at least 1 square foot through it does not block a spell's line of effect.

Such an opening makes a 5-foot length of wall no longer considered a barrier for purposes of a spell's line of effect (though the rest of the wall farther from the hole can still block the spell)."

Hey, I'm very careful to distinguish house rules, personal interpretation, and undeniable fact in the Rules forum :)

(Of course, sometimes what I consider to be undeniable fact still gets argued.)
