Buffy as an animated series

First Post
I was reading up on celebrity gossip out of boredom and found this short article that Joss is creating an animated series out of Buffy. I am a huge Buffy fan, but even I am skeptical about whether this will turn out.
Here is a copy paste of the article that I got off of the MSN site. Just curious on what others thought of it.

"Buffy": The Resurrection
"Buffy the Vampire Slayer" is rising from the grave -- again. TV Guide reports that Joss Whedon's defunct supernatural series will be resurrected in cartoon form. Too bad Sarah Michelle Gellar isn't feeling all that, uh, animated about the idea. The mag says she's declined to lend her voice to the project, which is a bit of a problem considering she's the Chosen One and all. In her place, Whedon has tapped Giselle Loren, who voices Buffy in the video game. On the plus side, Willow (Alyson Hannigan), Xander (Nicholas Brendon), and Giles (Anthony Stewart Head) are all back on board to fight the forces of darkness. The pilot will reportedly screen for possible distributors next month.

I'm quite excited about this. It sucks that SMG wont be lending her voice, but the voice actress who did Buffy's voice in the video game was quite good. So I'm ok with it not being the actual Buffy.

That is a much better article than what I read. I am trying not to get too excited about it because until after seeing the first episode I don't want to get my hopes up about it. :)

Bah. If CN had any sense they'd keep my Saturday night action FREE from comedy. I mean I don't mind the sunday only comedies but come on!

Besides a Buffy and Angel cartoons would rock at late night. (Especially if they follow in the Spawn vein.)

I just finished reading Wedon's first X-men comic, and I loved it. I think his writing and style would easily translate to the animated screen. I'd be curious where he'd take the series...

So, are we talking X-men type animation, or anime? As long as the series itself is good, either would look great. However, being the anime freak that I am, I personally think that a Buffy series with animation that goes along the same lines as Witch Hunter Robin would look pretty cool. It seems to me like it would just fit.

I beleive the person doing some of the character sketches worked on Batman Beyond and the images I saw of the characters kind of resemble them. Which in my opinion is a good thing.
