Buffy finale

I've always liked Spike. I liked him when he was bad, I liked him when he was confused. But character development is good, so it wouldn't be terrible if he went through another personality shift. I have a feeling he'll be reverted to completely human, otherwise as has been mentioned, he'll conflict/overlap with Angel too much.

And that's why we'll never see her again. She's haveing success elsewhere. So, they just need to say that she dies so they can activate a New Slayer.
Gee, you make it sound like there are two types of actors: a movie actor and a TV actor. One should not cross to the other side if they're enjoying great success in one medium.

BTW, while I like the movies that she was in, Eliza's not yet of the same caliber as those in the A-list, such as Tom Cruise and Gynneth Paltrow.

I have to disagree, her quitting her magic gave a little bit of effort, and the development and her adamancy against using it. Remember in the episode that Dawn got them all locked in the house, there was all sorts of peer pressure for her to do it, and she wouldn't and Tara stood up for her. All of this effort made the finale even better, because it hit her so hard, and she went wild. I think her not using it for a while made it better in the end. :)

In some ways, that's how it used to be. TV actors would sometimes crossover to being box office draws, but you'd almost never see someone cross back to TV after a successful movie career. In the past couple years, however, this line has blurred. Geena Davis had a failure of a TV show, while all of the cast of Friends have made films, while still filming their show. (In all likelyhood, none of them will go on to movie stardom after the show ends next year.)

No, she isn't. But she's working steadily. However, I'd think she'd be happy to come back to B:tVS whenever they want to write her back into the storyline. That kind of money ain't nothing to sneeze at.

It seems that I'm the only person who didn't like Faith as a character. I don't find the actress unattractive, but I don't find her particularly attractive either, so I have no interest in seeing her again, although I was really impressed with her last appearance on Buffy and her appearances on Angel.

I kind of saw it coming, but you never know with the Buffy team. Maybe if Spike played D&D, he would have known to word his wish better. :) My question is...Why does everyone seem to think that he will feel guilty and try to be good just because he has a soul now? Sure, it worked that way with Angel, but I'm still not sure he got his actual soul back, and not some other poor slob's. Some of the most evil characters we've seen have been people with souls, so maybe Spike with a soul will be a far more dangerous Spike.

I agree about the whole Faith thing. It was a little interesting when she was working for the mayor, they played on the whole her not really having a family thing, and they showed her looking at him almost like a father figure, and she did anything he asked of her because of it, which only made her worse when he was killed in the whole ritual thing.
I don't think that Spike will try to be good, it is a bit uncertain at this point, but I do think that at least at first that he will be fueled with so much anger that he will take it out on every and anything. He may go to Angel, but I think that he may also have to much pride to do that, and will try and deal with it himself, if in any way, by killing the demon who did it to him. I think it would be better if he was made human, but we will see next season.

I have no specific cases to justify my dissapointment. Suffice it to say that last season, when buffy died and so forth, I actually shed a tear for her. It was a brilliant finale. But she has done so much whining this season that anything that comes out of her mouth is automatically suspect. It just felt weak to me. Willow being won over by love. Giles laughing hysterically for no reason. Buffy going on and on. Maybe I've just finally had it with the show. Whereas Angel has proved to be dynamic and interesting, Buffy just seems like more of the same to me.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. I really liked that Xander got to be useful and save the day. Yeah, you saw it coming from a mile away, but it was still done well. Also, the fact that the big bad was defeated by love and not by Buffy just beating the crap out of it was fine by me. As for Giles laughing, that cracked me up! :) After summing up the entire dismal season and then kind of dismissing it with the hysterical laughter gave me hope that the next season won't be as depressing.

The only really sappy part to me was the dialogue between Buffy and Dawn towards the end. And even that got resolved fairly quickly. With the magic duels, Giles' entrance, Anya dialogue, etc., I thought it was a great finale (especially considering the below average quality of the majority of the season.

Okay, I am now frickin confused.

I got used to seeing two Slayers (Faith and Buffy, and before that, I know it was an African-American girl and Buffy).

[ Sidebar Commentary: please, Joss Whedon, bring back Eliza Dushku, aka "Faith." She look so scrumptous in that cheerleader outfit in The New Guy movie. ]

But what got me drawers in a twist... Spike has a soul now?!?!!!

Hehehe. :D

I can't wait to see a more tortured, more guilty Spike once his conscience kicks in. And should Angel escaped from his current cliffhanging (well, not exactly hanging from a cliff ... a place with a lot of depth), I wonder how he is going to react to his former lackey copying him?

BTW, it was a good ending. But what I hated was Willow trying to quit using her magic during that season. That's like telling a fat guy he should stop eating entirely to solve his problem.

I don't know about you guys but I am going to miss Tara (and the actress who played her). :(

Regarding slayers other than Buffy, since our heroine died last season, shouldn't another have risen to take her place. That's how we got Kendra and then Faith. Have they explained this and I just missed it?

Regarding Spike's soul, I hope he won't just be an Angel wannabe. I also hope he won't just start writing bad poetry (like he did before he was turned into a vampire) about all the guilt he feels. I look forward to see how Joss Whedon and Co. will handle this one.

Regarding Willow giving up her magic, I think a better analogy would be telling a drug user to give up his addiction to solve his problem.

Regarding Tara, the actress' name was Amber Benson and, although it took a while, she eventually grew on me too. At least she finally got into the opening credits. :)

[OT] I replied to separate comments with separate entries of my own. How do you insert two different quotes into the same reply?

According to Joss Whedon--from several different interviews--it no longer matters (in terms of replacement slayers) if Buffy dies. She died, and was replaced. It can only happen once.

Kendra replaced Buffy. Faith replaced Kendra. The fact that Buffy is still alive (or alive again) is a fluke. No new slayer will appear until Faith dies, no matter what happens to Buffy.

Oh, I loved this episode! But then, I really liked this whole season a lot, and never had much sympathy for the season-haters.

When Willow got blasted by someone off-screen, I shouted, "Giles?!" Then the camera cut to Giles, and I began laughing hysterically. I was really hyped up.

And the ending was really cornball, and would have been terrible in less-accomplished hands. But Joss is fantastic, and we know the characters so well, and the dialogue was so adroit, that I didn't doubt it for a moment. At some point during the climax, I looked over at my girlfriend: tears were streaming down her face. It was a good scene.

I *did* think that the evil temple looked cheesy. But that's okay -- who ever said that Satanists had to have a flair for architecture?
