Beaten to the punch I see. Creating a fiddler better than Fiddler would be a momentous achievement.

Every single class can take the Entertainer background to be able to fiddle. Likewise, every single class can kick butt in combat. So, pretty much whatever you take, you can make your character concept work.

Good call. The character could have some sort of connection to the fiddle-playing grigs.

Warlock fiddler would be fun 
But really, with the entertainer background, you could be *any* class and fiddle...
The character Fiddler was a sapper - a soldier who specialized in the use of Morranth munition, alchemical explosives essentially. He also had an inborn tallent to use the Deck of Dragons (think fantasy tarot) to do divination.
