You are also up in the time where guys from Europe post. :)

Paladin Bard is a nice idea, but unfortunately, not possible:
Paladins must be lawful good, Bards can be anything except lawful...

that is correct. alignment restrictions would prevent such a multiclass pairing.

You're right...you know, I hadn't even considered alignment until you mentioned it in your earlier post. I suppose I don't consider it as much as I really should. I made the same mistake when I considered (for a short while,) multiclassing my chaotic-good rogue with a few levels of must-be-lawful monk. D'oh! :D

A couple of further ideas:

Skip the Paladin and take a few levels in Holy Liberator from Defenders of the Faith - it is basically a CG Paladin.

Pick up Armor of Command - unless your DM has house-ruled it (and he should :)) it provides a +4 Competence (IIRC) bonus to Charisma. Nothing else does that, AFAIK, so it stacks with just about everything.

Someone mentioned +20 being good enough for a Diplomat. Well, I've got a 3rd level samurai in a PBEM with a +20 Diplomacy skill, so I'd have to disagree. Diplomacy is one of those skills where if you want to be good at it, max it out completely.

If you're going to play a bard, it's all about the scrolls! Make sure you have a maxed Use Magic Device and pick up a few scrolls that will really help you out when you need them. Shapechange, Prismatic Spray and Divine Power are all good. Maybe an Implosion for fun. Get a few Limited Wish scrolls. There is almost nothing you can't reasonaby do with a couple of those up your sleeves. Not to mention, it's going to be really hard to find these kind of scrolls (depending on DM) after you actually start the game.
