Burned!

I think my biggest gaming related burn was when I had finally graduated high school and was going to college with The Universe (a full year of long distance is not the most exciting or fun way to begin a relationship - but we made it though).

Anyway - it was great to finally get to see each other everyday. Despite the fact that I had a room in the dorms, I pretty much lived in The Universe's house with his 6 guy friends.

There were several times when one of his friends that ran a game would host a session at their house, The Universe would be invited but I would not. Though I would pretend that I didn't care, it always sort of miffed me.

But - eh - I'm over it. :)

Looks like you won out in the long run. ;)

It's not like we weren't playing in other games together... just one of his friends didn't like playing with the guys' women. *shrug*

Like I said - miffed me at the time. But, I'm over it (as it was a while ago). Now we game together all the time. :)

so you and The_Universe are a couple, did this create any tension in the group, because it did when a girlfriend/partner joined our group

Gamers can be petty jealous types at times, so you never know :D

Cheers Steven

I guess - I don't think it created any tension. All of The Universe's gamer friends were pretty receptive. Granted, we've moved have a country away from most of them and so don't get to play with them very often anymore (but one of them now lives near enough to us and another is moving out here soon!! :D).

There have been times when other players have accused The Universe of favoritism/me of using my wifely position to get something in game. But - for the most part - I remember all the times that I *haven't* got what I wanted more clearly than when I have... and I don't think I've ever used my wifely persuasion to gain the things I have gotten.

As we've grown older, we've found that we game with a lot of couples. So there's no longer the element of gaming "with your significant other's group".

Yeah - I'm a jerk. She tries, but I resist the call of booty! ;)

Seriously, the situation she's referring to was ridiculous. She argues a lot with me (we do that. :)) but she gets her way no more or less than anyone else. :p

The_Universe: "And the troll hits you for.... *roll* 42 points of damage.

Queen_Dopplepopolis: "Dammit! My character dies. Honey, is there any way that can miss?"

The_Universe: "Sorry, hon. You're dead."

Queen_Dopplepopolis: "I'll do that thing you like." *bats eyes*

The_Universe: "Really?"

Queen_Dopplepopolis: "Really." *nods poutily"

The_Universe: "Luckily it was all subdual damage..."

That group really didn't care - in fact, she was invited - they assumed that when I was invited we could both play. But since the invite wasn't specific, she always thought she wasn't welcome (and she still doesn't believe me! :p)
