Buying an RPG for ESL classes - Please Help!

haakon1, I agree. I'm not going to play an "Asian" game.

I might, however, play a Korean game, preferably modern days. That would be cool. Maybe combine dread with modern Korean setting, combined with using the students as the characters and turn it into a zombie post-apocalypse. This would be ideal... if only enough time existed for me to develop this story.

Hi

Taught in Korea, currently teaching in China...taught in 6 different countries for the last 7 years.

Anyway, I was in your exact spot 7 years ago. :)

I found the best systems to use are:

TOON
Paranoia XP
Star Wars: D6

TOON is perfect for students of all ages, high and low level. Visual aids are available all over the net.
Paranoia is way fun for high level classes (ZAP) toss out role-playing as much as possible and let your class play in 'game' mode... Star Wars I use for private classes where I need a running theme and a way to kill 2 hours every week staring at just 1 or 2 students. Star Wars I generally run with 8 to 12 y/o boys... TOON for everyone else... TOON crosses all barriers and its a game young women can really get in on. The superhero generation system is fantastic.

I also have a 'system/game' I built for ESL if you want it, just email me at: mikemitter@yahoo.com

I know it's an old thread. But I have created a TEFL designed tabletop game.
Similar to other tabletop games it has character creation and adventure. But more importantly for teachers it has ready to use lesson plans and worksheets for students to complete as they go through their adventure. Click on the link below to check out the Amazon page. More adventures are in the works, but the first one or two are up and ready to go.
