Bypassing SR with sorcerer

Spell Penetration and Greater Spell Penetration give +2 to overcoming SR.
Arcane Mastery allows you to take 10 on caster level checks to overcome SR.
Spells that have SR: No are also excellent ways to bypass the issue.

True Casting does the same, but it is a first level spell and a standard action.

It's also for only one spell. Assay Spell Resistance is swift action and lasts for round/level, but only affects one target and is 4th level.

I don't recommend learning True Casting as a sorcerer. Get it on a wand. Aside from dispelling issues (very unlikely to come up), True Casting is just as good at CL 1 as it is at CL 20. Higher CL does nothing to affect the maginitude of the benefit, the duration, or even the range.

arcane fusion -> true casting AND assay resistance. they stack, true casting gives insight bonus and assay in untyped.

You should never need both... I guess certain things like Mind Flayers have high SR for their CR. But in those cases, I'd rather just take Arcane Mastery feat or use no SR options.

EDIT: And in any case, no need to arcane fusion it and waste THREE spells. Assay Resistance is already a swift, so you can use it, draw a wand of True Casting, and use True Casting all in the same round anyway. You could use Assay Resistance + Arcane Fusion (True Casting + the actual offensive spell you need the SR boosts for), though.

True Casting is good for nuking multiple opponents with SR (say, cast True Casting and then Cacophonic Burst).

Assay Spell Resistance is good for continually attacking one opponent with high SR.

Regarding conbination of actions, there can be a lot of options if you learn spells such as Arcane Spellsurge, Arcane Fusion & Greater Arcane Fusion.

Other than that, actually increasing your caster level is always good, not just for penetrating SR. Ioun Stone, Ring of Arcane Might, Heritage Feat, various class features and such.

While its not quite what you're asking, Feats like Arcane Strike and the various Bloodline Attack feats (Draconic Breath, Infernal Sorcerer Shout, etc.) bypass SR by channelling the spell energy in different ways.

I like having a Reserve feat for dealing with SR myself (Supernatural ability, and thus bypasses SR). Though the character optimization boards would say that's a bad option.

The simplest solution is to just learn the lesser orbs and orb spells in spell compendium, of course.
