I would recommend against CoC d20 (even if you could find it), as I don't think the mechanics suit the scenario as well as BRP % mechanics.

Thirded. Though I would buy a copy of CoC d20 in a heartbeat if I saw it somehwere at a decent price. I personally wouldn't be buying it to play CoC though -- I'd be buying it to use elements of it in Pathfinder Campaign.

But if playing CoC is the end aim and object, BRP is the best system for it.

That doesn't make d20 CoC bad -- just sub-optimal.

I run a gaming club at my school (or at least I run the table top areas of it) and can afford to get 1 single game for $40.

Remember, it is to have a single game played in one 4-hour period, so that should be taken into account.

Well you can buy the pocket version of the latest Traveller rules for £10 which I think is under $20 correct me here since money conversions isn't my thing.

So thats $20 on something else, pdf if you want or look at amazon to see if a used version of COC is possible.
