OH YEAH!

Tzarevitch has the right idea!

In my campaign of 5 years-

Kalak dead...body never found. His son Darque is doing all he can to control the council and they don't even know he exists:p

Bane and Valentine. SK that are of my creation. Bane is being used in my Story Hour. He has a secret underground city on the esturary on an island. Valentine is a twisted piece. She was cursed by Rajaat and thus flickers in and out of time. Hard to control the world when you might be sent forward again and need to restart from scratch.
Albech-Re is possibly my favorite. The "B--ch" as my players refer to her as is a sex crazed paranoid with waaaaay too much power. As you did, she has a clone that is in hiding. I have an anti-V Alliance group called the Tembo Society. These folks are looking to overpower the SK but to create freedom- but for the sheer power of it. Three Kairshargas and two T'lizes were planning on taking over Raam. The SQ knew this and used her "death" to draw them out. Thus the "diseased wind" that went through the city at her "death."

Didn't get to the others. I did fleshout the cities a bit. Draj's Moon Priests are scarey. They are psionic templar assassins that use tatooing to symbolize level of power.

For Avangions, there is Korgunard (killed later per the adventure), the Redeemed One (won't say whom so as not to spoil it for any not in the knowing) and Hope. Hope is an Avangion hiding in the Hinterlands trying to build a city to live in peace. I have another character, Daina, whom is 20 pre/20 psion trying to become an Avangion. So far no one is willing to aid her in furthering her development due to her goals. She thinks the V Alliance needs to take the war to the SK and has read about the Preserver Knights (Paladins from the Green Age) which she wants to reconstruct (hard when the gods have left...but will they return...?)

Oops, I forgot about Borys.

Near the end of the campaign the Sorcerer Kings held a conclave and decides that Rajaat's prison wasn't secure. They couldn't agree as to who should take charge and use the Dark Lens to become the new warden of the prison. In a rare show of agreement they decided that Borys was best suited to the task plus he could be counted on to keep King Dregoth in line, so they called his wraith back from the Gray and placed him in a new body. They then went to the Chamber of Steeples in the Pristine Tower and re-worked the ritual to restore Borys to his former glory.

The PCs had plenty of omens that something dreadful was on the horizon but they simply didn't investigate in time. They were pretty high level by then (about 18th- 21st level) so they could've thrown a wrench on the SK's plans.

Oronis of Kurn had informed them that Bory's kaisharga had appeared and requested a levy under the terms of, "the ancient covanent." Through their sources they learned that kaisharga had appeared at all of the other city states, and Balic, Nibenay, Gulg, Draj, and Urik had complied with 2,000 slaves and press-ganged freemen apiece.

Elves wandering in the area also reported seeing huge slave coffles, argosies and armies of undead travelling in the desert near the Pristine Tower and bearing the banner of King Andropinis (a very long way away from Balic.)

By the time the PCs got around to investigating the rumors that something was going on in the desert (near Bory's old keep) and at the pristine tower it was way too late. The Bogo Forest that surrounded the Pristine Tower was gone with only a vast swath of black ash to mark its former boundaries. The only other thing that they found was a strange set of colossal reptilian tracks and tail marks that trailed off into the Silt Sea.

The PCs had an idea what had happened, but they only received confirmation later when Oronis told them that Borys had returned.

Re: City State Opinion

I would agree with you about the variety in a campaign being good. But key elements of Dark Suns setting were sacrficed wontonly in the prism pentad. By the time the revised Dark Sun setting was done, many of the forces that made Athas what it is were removed through scenarios that seemed very unlikely.
Like I said: Good result (more varied setting), but bad method (stupid way of killing them off).

The thing you need to know is what kind of campagn you want to do.
If you want a Veild Alliance campagn or a merchant or even a SK campagn.
It Help to select moduls or adventure.

One thing a did once was a VA campagn in Tyr, and the PC did not go in the desert for 5 or 6 games, and when they did they always try to avoid going outside any of the city-state.

Good Job T!

I really like most of your ideas there, Tzarevitch. Very good way to fix TSR's mistakes. 00Good Job! Sounds like a grear campaign.
