Didn't mean to offend, but your DMing style in this situation, sounded more like a book than a game. . .
Yes, you made it perfectly clear that I was doing it wrong. Thanks!
. . . and I just thought that the bit of writer's block you seemed to want a hand with could be broken by having some flexibility thrown in.
Except that's not at all what you typed. You took pains to point out what you felt was wrong with what I had written (specifically how it didn't conform to the TRAPs model) and then linked to the TRAPs thread. Helpful that was not.
I did not and would not criticize the path you've laid out for them, just that it looked like the path couldn't be veered from.
If you don't see contradiction in that statement, I'm afraid that we'll
never see eye to eye (Telling me that my campaign looks like a path that can't be veered from is not only criticism, it's not particularly friendly or constructive criticism. You seem to have mastered passive-aggressive posting).
Open up and the writers block will disappear.
Yes, yes, I already got the "Do it my way!" bit.
I don't get the anger, either. We DMs are a sensitive bunch, but really, I think this was beyond the pale.
Let me explain it -- when you come into a thread, offer no advice past "You're doing it wrong, my way works better, here's a link!" it's called 'thread crapping'. People don't like that.
Following up with "Well, I guess you're closed-minded and I'm bigger than you, because I do it X way and you don't!' comments when somebody says that they don't have an interest in your One True Way probably won't do much to salvage the conversation.
