The Campaign Classics poll is an excellent poll, with much that is of interest in it, but I feel it lacks a certain amount of context.

Almost half the people responding have voted for Greyhawk... but how many of those would have voted for the Forgotten Realms? We don't know.

Using the list of options that have been missed, plus adding the current campaign settings supported by Wizards and other companies, here is a poll with a slightly different bent.

It is a perfect world. All these campaign settings are being supported. Which would you buy?

Cheers!

I clicked all of them except Jakandor, because all of them are interesting (and, by contrast, I already own material for all of the listed campaign settings except Jakandor (and Blackmoor and Taladas, but only because those are so hard to find)).

Seriously, all of them describe great worlds, or regions of those worlds, and are things I'd want...Jakandor was just one tiny little island, and didn't seem worth it (with just three products, it barely deserved to be called a campaign).

Hi,

I clicked quite a few -- Greyhawk, FR, Eberron, Spelljammer, Al-Qadim, Planescape and Kara-Tur.

I think there might have been a time in the 90s when all of these settings were being supported at once!

Cheers

Spelljammer always gets the short end of the stick at these polls. I don't think enough people played it during the 90's. I'm sure that if you give me five players who've never played Spelljammer and let me run a 3 session adventure for them, they'll become fanatical devouts of it who willl leave their wife and home to just cruise in space all day :)

Ok, I voted Forgotten Realms, Planescape and Al-Qadim.

To those I would gladly add:

1) an oriental setting, but I don't know much about Kara-Tur, and Rokugan doesn't satisfy me enough (does Rokugan count also or did you keep it out from purpose?)

2) some setting along the lines of Eberron, but not that one specifically

Such settings could be in the list, but I don't know all of the ones you listed...

And by the way, in a perfect world also I could afford to buy 5 settings ;)

I have mainly tried to restrict myself to worlds that were supported by TSR/WotC; Rokugan isn't quite one of those (being mentioned in 3e's OA doesn't quite qualify it).

Cheers!

Thanks for the expanded poll Merric :)

Personally I voted for Planescape, Dark Sun, FR, and Ravenloft. I currently play PS and FR and while I've never gotten to play DS or RL I'd love to try one of these days. (Both the 2e and 3e S&S RL stuff seems interesting).

And indeed, when Planescape gets its own catagory, gee wow it's in 1st place as of the moment ;)

I voted Planescape, Kara-Tur and FR.

But I could have voted every one of them. It really depends on the quality of the sourcebook. If the Mystara Gazeteers were reprinted with updated artwork and rules, I would buy them, for example. The writing wasn't half-bad and they were full of nifty ideas. (Opinion based on a few small samples I have perused.)

Good artwork, solid rules, and the talent of giving ideas for homebrews are the three things I need in a sourcebook.

I am gladly suprised by the 1st place of Planescape and the good ranking of Birthright!
I am really amazed how they made such a mistake to complety dumb Planescape...
